How to set technical specs for private-label holographic magnetic gel?

Treat the magnetic movement and holographic appearance as two different performance targets. Specify the base shade, sparkle size or visual character, contrast after magnet application, movement speed, line sharpness, and acceptable variation under defined lighting. A magnet can align responsive particles, but it does not create the holographic component itself. Samples should therefore be assessed before and after magnet exposure, using the same coat thickness, magnet distance, hold time, and viewing angles. A written visual reference is more useful than terms such as strong, premium, or brilliant, because those descriptions are subjective and difficult to inspect during production.

Viscosity should be selected around the intended use rather than copied from another gel category. A thin formula may spread before the design is positioned, while an overly thick formula can produce uneven coverage, brush drag, or poor leveling. The specification should define application coats, leveling time, brush feel, settling behavior, and the maximum acceptable sediment after storage. Pigment loading also needs practical limits because excessive reflective or magnetic particles can affect opacity, flow, cure response, and color consistency. The supplier should confirm these properties through retained samples and a repeatable application method, not viscosity alone.

A curing specification should identify the lamp technology, stated wavelength range, nominal power information, exposure time, layer thickness, and recommended application sequence. Wattage printed on a lamp does not by itself prove the energy reaching the coating, and different lamps can produce different results with the same gel. The formula should be evaluated with the lamps used by the target customer segment, including a check for surface cure, through-cure, wrinkling, heat response, and removal behavior. Instructions should avoid implying universal compatibility unless the product has been assessed across the relevant lamp conditions.

Batch validation requires a controlled test method. Use the same substrate, base shade, coat weight, curing stage, magnet geometry, distance, exposure time, and lighting conditions for every comparison. Record the resulting line definition, movement response, visual contrast, and settling before application. Retained samples from pilot and production batches help identify changes caused by pigment dispersion, filling sequence, storage, or raw-material variation. Buyers should agree on an approved reference sample and measurable rejection criteria, while recognizing that visual effects can vary with operator technique and viewing angle. A single demonstration panel is not sufficient evidence of batch consistency.

Packaging specifications should cover bottle compatibility, brush performance, closure torque, sealing, headspace, label adhesion, transport orientation, and storage conditions. Metallic or reflective particles can settle during storage, so the project should define the permitted condition before shaking and the required remixing or shaking instruction. Compatibility screening should look for swelling, softening, discoloration, leakage, or changes in viscosity over an agreed period. Filled samples should also undergo handling and transit simulation appropriate to the distribution route. Packaging approval must use the final bottle, cap, brush, label, and formula combination rather than an empty component sample.

The document package depends on the destination market and product claims. Buyers commonly request an ingredient declaration using the applicable naming convention, Safety Data Sheet where required, batch or lot identification, usage instructions, warnings, shelf-life or period-after-opening information when applicable, and records supporting the agreed quality checks. Claims about curing, durability, hypoallergenic performance, or regulatory status should be supported before appearing on packaging or sales material. The importer or responsible person remains important because cosmetic obligations, restricted substances, language rules, and notification requirements differ by jurisdiction. Confirm the market before finalizing artwork and bulk production.
