Notify the carrier, insurer, supplier, and customs broker within the applicable contractual deadlines; these deadlines differ by transport document and insurance policy. Separate salvageable stock from leaking or contaminated goods and avoid destroying evidence before inspection. A lot number, carton number, shortage count, photographs, and signed delivery record help distinguish factory packing variance from handling damage.
